In 2013 Jazz in the Gardens will make a serious commitment to the conservation of the City of Miami Gardens to preserve the environment. Through the Jazz in the Gardens Go Green Initiative" Behind the Scenes" Environmental Program, Jazz in the Gardens will incorporate the environment into their event operations.
Jazz in the Gardens will make every effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and our carbon footprint through the promotion of alternative transportation such as bike valets, group shuttles and recommending carpool parking to all who attend.
On the administrative side, Jazz in the Gardens will recruit, schedule and correspond with all volunteers virtually to limit paper use with online forms. The entertainment application process will be conducted virtually also to eliminate the submission of cd's and paper applications.
Jazz in the Gardens rents all equipment for the event site each year, which includes tables, tents, chairs, flooring, and garbage receptacles to promote reuse. The three floating barges and dock area are reused each year and are constructed and deconstructed just for this event.
Exhibitors and vendors will be prohibited from distributing flyers, brochures and certain promotional items to prevent unnecessary litter. Through Jazz in the Gardens efforts, a lot of recyclable materials will be recycled during the two-day event. These material consists of corrugated cardboard, paper, plastic and glass.
Our Go Green Initiative, "Behind the Scenes" Environmental Program is made possible thanks to our partners at Dade County Solid Waste Authority.
